1. Instructions
Task 3 :
After the visual analysis, you will now create a work of design, based by the idea you have proposed in Task 2. You are expected to apply your knowledge of design principles in your idea development and final design.

3. Task 3 - Development & Design
After doing the visual analysis, we were required to create an artwork based on one of the sketches in Task 2 feedback on which sketches were better and explore our chosen artwork with design principles.

"The Wild Robot"
Production Company: DreamWorks Animation
Year: 2024
Size: 60.9 cm x 40.6 cm
Medium: Digital art

I want to appear more emotive and relatable like another poster from The Wild Robot poster. It makes it like hiding or watching, but the eyes seem curious and also explore themes of nature and technology to survive in the wilderness. Additionally, I want to make references from Kubo and the Two Strings poster. It would make the composition walk together through the forest with warm colors and lightning to create a sense of adventure and unity.

Rationale:
The design composition balances structured asymmetry to convey exploring the film’s theme of nature and technology with heavy typography and organic texture below that balances the lighter at top. This creates a dynamic tension, symbolizing the robot’s journey in a chaotic natural world.

The reason I decided on this design is because it showcases the contrast and connection between technology and nature, all set against a deep blue night sky with a glowing full moon. Centering the robot and the wildlife together in front of a bright huge moon visually emphasizes and hierarchy refers to meeting two (2) worlds: the mechanical (robot) and the natural (fox, forest animals). The robot appears tall, while the animals are shown in smaller but proportional scale. Additionally, the robot’s pointing gesture creates a movement that guides our eyes from left to right. This will help the viewer's attention moving across the artwork, as it is about the robot’s journey.

Last but not least, to enhance the word and images principles, I used speckled starry backgrounds in repetition, which help unify the composition and create a cohesive atmosphere to ensure that the space has a sense of fullness and ties the entire design together. Besides that, I utilized the more organic or hand-crafted style that could hint at natural elements with a mechanical elements part, improving the overall aesthetic and narrative of the design.

4. Feedback

Week 6
General Feedback : Consultation with Mr. Vinod to review Task 3

Specific Feedback : Mr. Vinod told me that Sketch 2 is better than Sketch 1 (unless it's more detailed). Also, the character in Sketch 2 needs to be bigger and should include a boarding title.

Week 7
General Feedback : Last consultation with Mr. Vinod and complete the final artwork and compilation.

5. Reflection

Experience
My experience for Task 3 is similar to Task 1 and 2, but in Task 3, I needed to improve and explore ideas more through our artwork. I struggled a little when coloring the background.

Observation
For observation, the feedback and comments from other friends when consultation has helped me to improve and realize how they see things and interpret them in their artwork. Therefore, it encourages me to make the best of the final artwork.

Findings
Consulting about my work and receiving feedback has been especially important; the more feedback I received, the better my results became. Additionally, more improvement and explore various ideas to see which one is the best in term of design principles.
